Thank you for visiting us at Onden Apple Road Market

On Sunday, October 25, 2026, CHA-EN took part in the 8th Onden Apple Road Market, held on Cat Street, the Onden Promenade in Omotesando/Harajuku, Tokyo.

To everyone who stopped by our booth and everyone who tasted our tea, thank you very much. We are also sincerely grateful to all of you who read our announcement or saw our posts on Instagram.

In this post, we share a look back at the day and introduce the three teas that sold out.

Our announcement for the event is available here.
Meet Taiwanese Tea, on Cat Street in Omotesando, Tokyo

The Day at Our Booth

The Apple Road Market banner on Cat Street

From 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at one of the tents lining the promenade, we offered Taiwanese tea sampler packs, tea bags (TEA BAG), cold brew tea, and more. We also displayed tins and boxes of loose-leaf tea alongside leaf samples, so that visitors could see the shape and color of the leaves for themselves.

At our booth, we served tastings of Jin Xuan Oolong and Ruby Black Tea. Many people paused during their stroll to try each one, and we felt that they enjoyed the difference in aroma between an oolong and a black tea.

We were also visited by guests from overseas. It made us very happy that, here in Omotesando, this event sparked an interest in Taiwanese tea.

We were also visited by customers who have ordered from our online shop, who have been to our store on Dihua Street in Taipei, and who have come to our past events in Japan. It was a great joy to see you again. Thank you, as always, for enjoying CHA-EN's tea.

Thanks to all of you, our cold brew tea bags and our sampler packs of Jin Xuan Oolong, Ruby Black Tea, and Lishan High Mountain Oolong sold out.

The Three Teas That Sold Out

Here, once more, are the three teas whose sampler packs sold out.

Jin Xuan Oolong (Taiwan Tea No. 12)

An oolong known for its smooth, milky aroma and gentle floral notes. Its flavor is easy to enjoy, even for those trying Taiwanese tea for the first time.

Ruby Black Tea (Taiwan Tea No. 18)

One of Taiwan's signature black teas, grown around Sun Moon Lake in central Taiwan. Its aroma, reminiscent of cinnamon and mint, has a vibrancy quite different from oolong. The aroma comes through clearly even when cold brewed.

Lishan High Mountain Oolong

A high mountain tea grown in the high-elevation Lishan tea region. It has a fruity flavor reminiscent of pear and peach, with a fresh floral aroma. Its clean finish makes the difference clear when you taste it alongside the other two teas.

What Matters to CHA-EN

For nearly every tea we carry, we visit the growers in person and check that year's climate and the finished leaves before making our selection. We do not make the flavor uniform; instead, we bring you each year's tea together with its story.

Spring and winter teas never taste the same. We bring you each year's tea just as it turned out.

Talking with visitors in person as we served tea gave us a clearer picture of what our customers in Japan enjoy, and what they look for when choosing tea. We will put what we learned into how we select our tea going forward.

Enjoying Your Tea at Home

For the teas you purchased at the event, we find that the following guidelines help bring out their aroma.

  • TEA BAG: Steep in a full mug of hot water (90–95°C / 194–203°F) for about 40 seconds.
  • Cold brew: Use 5g of tea leaves per 500 ml of water, and refrigerate for about 7–8 hours.

Feel free to adjust the time and amount little by little to suit your taste.

If you could not make it on the day, you can browse our teas at our online shop.

Our Upcoming Events

This event reminded us how important it is for people to actually smell and taste the tea. When our next event is confirmed, we will announce it here on our blog and on Instagram.

We also share news about events and our teas through our official LINE account. If you would like, please register here.

Once again, our heartfelt thanks to everyone we met for the first time, to everyone who always supports CHA-EN, to everyone who stopped by our booth, and to the organizers, the Onden Cat Street Merchants' Association and the Onden Apple Road Market Executive Committee.
